| General Comments: | Good quality tan and silver Char X steers all sired by Cedarlea Farms Charolais bulls. LZ Farms selects bulls based on moderate birthweights and calving ease, but focuses a lot on higher YW plus attention to REA and higher marbling traits. 50% of the cow herd are F1 Hereford/Angus that were TT leptin tested (higher marbling genetic marker). LZ has finished these cattle at custom lots 3 out of the last 5 years with good results (high carcass yields and average quality grades 40-65% AAA). Tons of frame on these guys to pack on the pounds. 7 head were late banded in early March, the balance were done at weaning in early January 2021. Cattle are a little up and down and 2-3 head have short horns. |
